"Please allow me to introduce myself....."

Based in Kent's Medway Towns, Headlong are a four piece band playing popular classic rock covers, comprising drums, guitar, keyboards and bass, with all four members taking lead or backing vocals, depending on whose voice suits a particular song, or who shouted loudest in rehearsal. We try to bring you something a little more challenging than other bands playing similar music without being too self-indulgent. Whatever happens, you'll enjoy the mix of music and the content of our sets.

A Brief History

Headlong were formed at the end of 2002 from three members of a function band and a new keyboard player. While enjoying the function work, there was never really the chance to "let go" so it was decided to start things moving with a view to forming a band who could turn it up a little bit and play to the sort of pub-rock crowds that they would normally be a part of.

Once the idea and set lists had been established rehearsals started in earnest in February 2003. It didn't take long for everything to gel and Headlong decided it would be time to search out some work. To do this meant that something in the way of a demo needed to be recorded, so the band ended up at Broadwood Studios in Newington on 13th April 2003, the result being some of the tracks that can be heard in part on our demo page.

In July 2005 Jim (the keyboard player) announced that he would be leaving the band, and after some months of sweating and wondering if we'd be able to replace him, H, Kev and Peter, were joined by Robert Gerrard, formerly of "Moving Pictures". Rehearsals and early gigs with the new line up went well and Robert has now become a permanent fixture.

Influences and sets

Influences for the four members are fairly varied but include Thin Lizzy, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Beach Boys.

Since rehearsals began we have acquired a list of covers that would easily fill a three hour long set. Some of the songs and the original artists included are listed below.
