'H' Ebdon
'H' (real name to be confirmed) has been playing guitar for years, probably more than may of us would wish to remember. In his younger days he worked with Kent based band "Peaceful Persuasion" which saw a much younger and hairier version of the man we now know and love. He has been working with "The Phil Chaplin Band" since 1987 performing at various functions, social clubs, dances etc. |

Robert Gerrard
After the departure of Jim Hawkins we finally managed to land ourselves a keyboard player in the shape of RObert Gerrard. His cv is fairly impressive - "classically trained to diploma on Piano, was Organist for some time at a Chatham church and studied Organ at Rochester Cathedral, but really I was always into keyboards... Floyd, Camel, BJH, Wakeman, Yes, Genesis, all that prog stuff. The organ was the way to pretend to be Wakeman when I couldn't afford keyboards ... Pretty strong guitar player - I play lead in the current band (Moving Pictures), doing all the Gilmour work for the Floyd stuff. I play it all note for note to keep the air guitarists happy (they can't mime to improvisation!) and I only break into impro when I really get carried away with a good crowd. Trained in Music Production - Surrey Uni Tonmeister course. " He also has an ever expanding name changing from Rob to Robbie to Robert to ... You decide... |

Ex-members Kevin Portch
The obligatory fat bloke in the band, Kevin started out (as many of us do) with a group of school mates in "Flame and the League of Five". By the time the band eventually got some work Kevin was out and the guitar was duly placed in a bag under the bed. Some years later (in 1985) he was to help to form Lewisham based Rock/R'n'B outfit "Splashback" who enjoyed "working the circuit" supporting the likes of Jackie Linton, Climax Blues Band, Wilko Johnson and Stan Webb among others. After Splashback split in 1989 Kevin joined "The Phil Chaplin Band" and has been with them ever since. He is also currently working with Peter J Pinto and his lively function band, "Redemption". He has also spent time hollering backing vocals on a couple of tracks by Charlton mad "3 Blokes from F Block". Jim Hawkins
The youngest member of the group and the one with all the brains. (Sickening isn't it). Jim has a degree in music technology and is a classically trained pianist, having won all sorts of awards over the years, including the Medway Talent Trust Award. Previously involved with bands The Meer Cats, Birdcage, Device, and Broadband. He has produced music for a number of TV projects ("Out There", Channel 5; and "Portrait of a Fighter" .) |
